I feel there is just one God - man's conscience.

It's upto each individual if he/she listens to it or not.

I agree with roman1, religion has been too much commercialized. Sometimes i wonder where do they get all the money from, to organize rallies and building huge churches.

EDIT: How do they get so much money to waste on :

And i dont know how many other such awards are going on, this is totally insane. They are wasting money donated by people and grants by govt.

Id hazard a guess those stats are old, Agnostic / Atheist is likely much higher than that these days as more and more young people are abandoning the religeons of their parents. Was there a date on that study?

I dont know about them stats but i wouldnt be suprised if they are true. Its scarey how many people are devout about their religion let along people who just idely follow it. Look at the results so far on here, granted not many people of voted, but out of 14 votes, 6 are believers and 3 are non believers. Now i would imagine the people on this board are above average intelligence and are capable of analysis the arguments for and against the excisitance of god but the majority believe in god still?

Now dont get me wrong im not really that bothered what you beleive in aslong as you are a good person. If intelligent people follow the belief of god then what about the millions/billions of under educated/less intelligent people that live in this world?

I would also say that being middle class in the UK its a lot easier to deny the excistance of god compared to let say parts of the world that are poverty stricken etc as God is probably one of the few things they have to believe in and get them through the day

Also you have to realise that being a christian, islam etc etc does not mean you are a practicing christian etc etc

Just because you say you believe these days means squat, the lower and lower numbers of people attending church etc recently seems to prove that people are caring less about religeon and more about themselves...

And they should be. Why should anyone let a book or a myth dictate how they live their life?

What if you go through life depriving yourself of pleasures and desires (such as sex) because a book told you to, only to die without ever experiencing them? Life is too short to hold back for someone elses idea of right and wrong.

Talking about pleasures and desires, i think inslam tells not to drink alochol.

Not drinking cause of personal reasons is alrite, but being told not to, thats bad. They dont know what they are missing.:p

I posted no opinion on the poll, because while the concept of God is not scientific due to the fact that God cannot be proven or measured, there is some evidence that extraterrestrials may have been involved in the development of the human species.

While there is little or no evidence of a "God" as referenced in the Bible, there is a plethora of evidence on UFOs and ETs if one does their homework carefully. It is a fact that most scientists today now agree that there is a possibility that life may have developed on other planets are places, and they maybe much more evolved than us.

In the last few years cloning and genetic engineering have become fact, and not fiction. This wasn't true 30 years ago. I believe a extremely advanced civilization could possibly build other life forms.

There should have been an "I don't know" option in this poll.

I bet a lot of people would have chosen it.

One of the most common answers is also "There is something out there, but not what religion defines".

Rather depressing isn't it? We live in a world full of science and technology and people still want to believe in fairy tales and myths in books

Yes god exists....telephone invented....televison invented...computer invented...satelites invented...and there are many things are invented.....but human beings are eating food since decades....food and water created by god.....man can't create food and water. After somuch of knowledge human beings are parasites. They dependents on nature.....If nature curse human beings they will die.....technology wont help them for survival.....god bless nature....there is only one god with somany religions..... the three seasons are god creations......rains are there to balance water and food deficiency...they other seasons are there for good cause....man with lot of knowledge can't create seasons....god can't be every where so he created mother.....Mother is god and godess...

Science does not prove anything. I don't understand why people hold up Science as this Be All End All of things. It does not work that way. All Science does is show you a result of an experiment that you do, and that result can be tainted if the experiment is not controlled enough. Science also does not say we evolved from a monkey. We evolved from multiple creatures which both humans and apes can be traced back to (this is what Science shows so far, this could change). If you really want to know where humans come from, as far as Science can show us, everything might have evolved from Neutrinos.

Is there a God? God is a concept and that concept differs for everyone. Most people believe in a concept, and so for them God does exist. I can respect that, maybe even understand it somewhat, but can I ever truly grasp someone else's concept of God, probably not.

Religion is not God. Religion is people living according to shared believes, although everyone wants to think that these shared believes are the one true God. Christians evolved from a cult. A cult that believed in eating their leader's flesh and blood resulted in bringing them closer to their God. I think people tend to forget this. The one truly impressive thing about the Jews and Christians is that they believed in having an individualistic relationship with God. This is what matters about their religion and is something which makes people be Jews and Chrisitians. Somewhere along the way some people used this idea and twisted it to control the masses and it has worked very well till this day.

In fact I see it here in the United States all the time. Our country is de-evolving as we speak. Political forces have made it so that more Americans value less the ideas of education, freedom of speech, and individual autonomy. We make it easier for Americans to stop thinking and let them get more emotional about things that don't matter. Why does it matter that there is a court house with the Ten Commandments displayed outside? Why should anyone care if a woman chooses to use the morning after pill? Instead we should care about things that do matter like voting rights, protecting our rights to keep our property, the freedoms that our country was founded on.
