Even though forum threads may be new and don't have much PR of their own, but the website's overall Pagerank matters too. It is just a misconception among people if they think that the corresponding page has to have a high page rank too! Of course it helps if the pagerank of the individual page is also high, but its not necessary.

The same thing happens while doing article marketing. You submit articles to high PR article sites, but the new article page does not have any PR as such. Don't you think that this link will matter? It sure will help in your SE rankings.

In addition to backlinks you will manage to get high ammounts of traffic. If your website and forums are topic related you will have targeted users who can become your potential customers in the end.

Forums are awesome for backlinks but they should be PART of an overall link building campaign...dont rely on iot as the only source of backlinks.... Plus, you shouldn't focus too much on the Green Fairy Dust...it's not 2000 anymore.....but yes, it does look pretty :) Hit the forums hard but dont be a spammer...no one likes them

There are several ways to build backlinks. We have discussed Directory Submissions, Article Submission, & Press Releases. The next simple easy and free way to get a back link as well as free traffic is the Forum Signature. Forums allow individuals to build trust and familiarity that is normally not present through the Internet. As trust grows, people will click on your signature tag and will purchase your product or service.

Every link has some value. Of course, sometimes that value is small, but for beginners it is the best way to improve their PR reputation.

I think that forum links provide us with some link juice and surely they will send some traffic back to our sites.. If we do some creative posts!

:DYou post on relevant forums and include links in your posts to your site. You also take advantage of the signature feature so that every one of your posts has an optimized anchor text link to your site. And because forums don't have no follow in their user’s generated content very often.-if you start a thread yourself, you can control the title and much of the content of the page your link will sit on, thus ensuring relevancy in the eyes of the search engine. Sounds good but still remember, forums have a lot of outgoing links so the link value per link is devalued greatly. Therefore, not a lot of 'link juice' will be passed via links from forums. Many experts in the industry are of the opinion that forum signatures are of very little SEO value but that they're very useful for getting referral traffic, especially if from a respected poster.
Well, I think you could do it, but don't centre your campaign on this method. Make sure you don't spam the forum (by not participating in it and then immediately plugging your business blatantly) and be sure that its niche is relevant to yours.
