You won't get traffic from forum posting unless you post helpful articles and such - also; your signature needs to be attractive.

Yep. So do I. And the forums at Delphi: http://www.delphiforums.com/ are NOFOLLOW, but there are thousands of people who post there, so for traffic, they're great. Other forums are good for the backlinks.
PS the forums at Delphi allow huge, clickable signature file images. They don't really like commercial links, but if you're discreet, you can get around that.

if your helpfull then you will get traffic from your signatures, if you post a lot then you will get good backlinks from your signatures and recent blog post

And forum sing is one of the fastest way to generate immediate traffic (plus backlink in the long run)...
Even one person going to the site is considered "traffic." lol I'm sorry, but you folks are funny. Try it for a test period. If you are happy with making less than minimum wage, and or you are desperate for traffic, then I guess it "works" for you also. Keep a log, diary, of the time you spend posting for say, a few months, and then compare it to the ACTUAL results. How many ACTUALLY comes to your site? How many ACTUALLY comes back? How much money have you made? In the end you will find your answer. Just don't be delussional and in your own little world like so many others are. That's a quick one-way ticket to not being successful. Your goal, as a businessman, and that is what you are, and who doesn't have his head up his ass, is to make more $ and work fewer hours than a dishwasher. Do a test period, starting tomorrow. Keep detailed notes.
