Does Font Size Affect Clicks?

As we know adsense ads have a set and tiny font size.

My font size is pretty small for gazotto, but I want to increase it a bit to make it more readable.

Will less people click ads because they now can tell more of a difference?

i don't know, but if an ad font size is too big compared to the texts, i won't click on it because it is obvious.

If your ads are blended in to the rest of the content on your page (you're basically trying to make your ads not look like ads), you probably want the font size to be somewhat similar. Otherwise, viewers will more easily identify the ads as ads. This might decrease the click rate.

If your ads already 'stand out', I don't think changing the font size is going to make much difference in clicks, although the only way to know for sure is to try it out and see. The thing to stay away from is having too huge a difference in font sizes, which would force the viewer to 'adjust' to reading a different size when looking at the ads (and they might just skim over them instead of reading them).

I made a lot of experiments around this problem.
What i maked and increased my CTR at 10%.
I made all the titles on the page 2px larger then other links below the title.
All the links below the title same size and font with the title of the ads.

The ads were so well blended you didn't know that there are ads.

I think that until you don't make a lot of tests you will not find the secret formula.

Interesting comments. I guess I'm gonna have to experiment myself.

I would say that it does. If you look at sites that have the ability to change the font size with google's permission they are almost always bigger and bolder. So I would say that they do play a role.

ndillon: what site has done this?
It's against TOS to change the code of the ads.

We are not speacking about changing the font in the interior of the ads.

Could be the premium adsense account. Not sure. You know the one businesses use if they get over 100 000 pageloads.

I don't know if that is true though.

    O damn. That is high.

I hope they change it for normal users. I e-mailed them about it and they gave me the standard response. I think it'd be win-win, but that's why I was wondering because I doubt Google will change it any time soon.

i'm sure they thought about it and decided against it. one reason might be more possibility of fraud (i personally can't see how but someone else will)

Yes that's what I thought too, how can it be fraud?

    it's 20 million impressions a month, btw. :)

i think it's not because of fraud or anything, but they want the small publishers to carry the brand name "ads by gooooogle" for them. the big ones get more relaxed rules, just as a 'loyalty' thing.

I could care less about sticking that name. If they changed the font size and kept that "ads by goooogle" I'd be fine with it.

And 20 million. Wow that is A LOT.
