    Hi,

Do search engines consider that to be duplicate content and will my ranking be penalized for that?

    Thanks

Yes, articles that you post from Ezinearticles are duplicate content. Matt Cutts has said your ranking will not be penalized for duplicate content, but the duplicate content will not be indexed by Google.

I find it better to use ezine articles as research material. Take several articles, take the best parts of each, put it in your own words, and make your own article.

Yep, time consuming but if you're a quality rewriter then very effective.

The articles you submit to any article directory can be considered duplicate content. It is also important to remember that if it is a good article, others will put that article on their site which will increase the chance of duplicate content.

The best approach is to change an article on your site by 30% or more and submit that to the article directories. Then you do not have to worry about the duplicate content and you can enjoy the links you get from the different sites.

well, ezine is still a good link building method because there are a couple of people that copy paste all the article from there and keep the links. i got some good related backlinks by posting articles on ezine.

It was either on Matt Cutt's blog or one of his videos on Google Video. I forget exactly when I heard it. Matt also added the caveat that too much duplicate content would result in the site being considered worthless.
