Does exchanging links on 0 PR pages really help you out?

Many of the successful websites I've seen are in the habit of exchanging links on their homepage which is where your PR (if any) normally is. The traditional way to exchange links is to create a page on your website that's only for links. Does this actually help out your search engine position or is it simply just a waste of time?

Exchanging links with pr0 sites is a good idea if they are permanent becz they are cheap and u can get them easily and if they grow u get a good link out of that so they grow and ur links keep getting stronger and no one likes his page to stay at pr0

every indexed site with search engines will help you.

If you are looking for link exchange with PR0 site then i think you should do it, only keep in mind that site is indexed or not with search engines because if you going to exchange by mistake with any banned site then you site can also banned by search engines.

    Thanks:)

True, but be carefull, exchange link with those who create quality content and add new content at least one time per week. Look at the indexed pages from that site, if it`s number is less than yours you give more than you take.

Any link counts as far as the page is indexed by Google. Even if it's PR0 it still help.

Is "Exchanging Link" still a good way to promote PR and improve SERP?

I heard Google is smart enough to detect it is a link exhange especially it is a 2-way link. You gain link juice for incoming link but lose something when there is a outgoing link from your site.

    Folks, any comments??

It's not the best technique out there but if done correctly your site will benefit from it.

My site used to be pr5 but got penalized a few months ago because of blogselling i guess. ( www.engineeringserver.com ), the traffic didn't hurt though. We have around 1000+ readers a day/average and close to 1100 average/day. I was forced to put other ads instead of the googles ones too becuse i felt if i didn't they would just ban me when i reach payout :p

You won't get banned from AdSense just for publishing sponsored reviews on your site (as far as the content is family friendly).

You know todays pr0 is tomorrows pr5. I would run a cache: test on the first to see if they are in googles database. And make sure they are not banned.
