It isn't true all the time. But yes, in some case its possible, where in template more Java Script, Flash work and Frames are used.

yes i strongly believe that has great effect based on my exprience. dwt make the task easier since you wont have to worry about the basic buttons and links on each page.

No, .dwt files (which are Dreamweaver template files, Aaron) will not have an effect on your site's ability to be crawled and indexed by search engines. Any perceived "effects" will usually be caused by other problems, such as inlined CSS and JavaScript which should have been stored in external files in the first place.

no, it doesn't as far as I know. I have made dozens of sites using the .DWT model and they do fine in Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc...

The code .DWT uses has little effect (if any) that I can see.

Have to agree with Dan .dwt template designed correctly will have no adverse effects on seo. A .dwt file is basically just a dreamweaver template. There are pre-built templates or you can create your own.

I second Dan. Using .dwt's will not have any detrimental effect on the ability to get crawled by search engines. Keep script code to a minimum.

It's your index.htm file that includes the path to your core template.dwt that will get indexed. The template.dwt will include common elements such as header, footer and navigation that will be used sitewide. You can include your page title, meta and alt tags in the template.dwt. The index.htm file will include your keywords and anchor links in the content.

I have sold thousands of templates with .dwt files and have never had anyone complain of any adverse effects in the search engines.

I have previously used template.dwt's in my sites and have consistently ranked top 5 for the past 5 years (used to be number 1) for a very competitive keyword.

    Hope this helps.
