    Try to look at SEO with common sense

    Does it make sense to have some duplicate content on the site?
    Does that duplicate content help visitors to see what they wanted to see?

    If both answers are yes, you will be safe :)

    You can't rank two pages with same content, always use 301 redirection for previously ranked URL.

    Duplicate content can also be used in SEO, but the problem is it gets lower ranking than those sites which are using unique content..

    If you want to rank high, you must use unique content, if you are using duplicate content your ranking will be lower than those sites which are using unique content...

    In SEO, you have to optimize each and every elements whether it is content, on-page optimization, domain name, keyword in domain name, domain age, keyword density, natural link building, natural traffic to your site.

    yes it affects seo..its better to have unique content in the site..if the content is duplicate,than will be a confusion for google,that which page has to be promoted.,
    so dnt use duplicate content within own website.
