    Hi-

I have a site that is heavily suffering from duplicate content as some other guy copied entire page on his site. Now I rank nowhere in google. in last PR update

this page is retained the original PR of 2, while all my other pages jumped to PR3.

    Any comments ?

PS: sorry dont ask me the page.

    What's the page?

Don't worry about the PR, this update was really weird, I got many internal pages with higher PR than the homepage.

I had the same thing when i got a PR boost a while ago from the bluefind directory. All my internal pages had a enormous PR increase but my homepage PR didnt go up , if i remember correctly it even stayed the same.

Sorry for the delay. i was out of town.
What I was asking is anyone's experience with duplicate content pages and PR. I have this particular page with low pr and all other pages of the site ( 25page site) at PR3. Thus I'm wondering is google doing some PR penalty over duplicate pages.

    Best Regards,

From my experience (I had one site with dup content problems), the dup cont doesnt affect PR. If found G will delete one of the dup pages. The problem is that we cant control which one. So if your page was removed from the index (doesnt sound like it was since you still have PR) then I guess it could cause people to remove their BLs to you and then affect the PR but in my experience there is no direct correlation.

    Thanks WeRASkitzzo,
Yep, the page is lost in infiity now. May be thats the reason (what you said) I lost a PR update to this page.

The only thing I could think of to do now is contact G with your case. I know lots and lots of people who have tried it and never heard back but i have also heard of a few success cases so it might be worth a shot.

I'm thinking to re-design the site and also the content of this page. That might help for sometime.

    My situation.

I have a site wich have some pages with duplicate content and because i'm not the first who has this content, i rank nowhere for those pages. (they are about 20 pages duplicate)

Me and the webmaster of another site, both of us have the permission by author to have this content on our sites, but because the other site have this content for a long time, on my site it is considered duplicate.

When the PR update arrived, the home page is PR 5 and all this duplicate pages are PR2. The structure is: PR5 => intermediar page(PR3)=> duplicate content (PR2)

I plan to rewrite those pages to escape from duplicate content filter.

yep, same here. I guess there is some Pr penalty with dup pages. coz, only those pages are having low PR, all the rest of pages is Pr3. ( in mycase )
