Does dublin core metadata advantages/disadvantage?

Does dublin core metadata has some advantage/disadvantage over SEO?

Or it's just passing on some information to search engines??

 

I have never heard of the dublin core meta tag having any impact on SEO. I would focus on adding unique and optimized meta title and meta description tags to every page and would not worry about the dublin core meta tag.

 

They have no effect over serp's. Just add meta description and forget the rest.

 

I think major search engine does not assign much weight to the Dublin core meta data. May be it will helpful in the future in the evolution of semantic web.
