Everyone seems to get those, I get maybe 1 or 2 per year. I used to think that they avoid long time members and those with high post counts, but DP himself gets more PM spams than me ...
I think they just find some relevant posts and then send a PM to the poster, or at least that's the way I'd do it But may be there're some automated tools to send PM's ?
I get a pm with attached nude photo of good looking woman wanting my bod, I will not get excited about pm's. Now my regular email address, that anyone can pick up here on the forum, has jumped quite a bit on the spam. Anyone else notice that?
You have to be registered to see the E-mail address. Though vBulletin does have the option to protect you from registered spammers by having a form instead of showing the E-Mail address, but it looks like leting registered spammers see our E-mail addresses is good, for some crazy reason!!
just speaking on spam in general and even non spam if someone sends me a email and its not like directly to the point I will get lost in it. It isnt that I do not care its that I have 100000 other things to do. Lots of time I will just save them but then it shows that I read it so people get pissy and are like ARE YOU IGNORING ME So if you send me a email or pm and its more then 2 sentences I probably will just save it for another time.
Here is a good PM spam from a 0 post signup I just recvd. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=20249
We have a new zero post PM solicitor. I've gotten three already. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=9870
I think the PM facility should be enabled once user has reached atleast 10 posts and 7 days at DP My2C
