I think what you are referring to is some forums don't show signitures unless you are signed in, in which case the spiders won't see the signitures as they are not loggined in! With Dp the signitures show up even if you are not signed in, so spiders can see the signitures.
that's not the case in DP, almost all DP threads are indexed in google and other major search engines just search for any thread title in DP and you will find it in google
It helps, especially as the thread ages. Look for the "Google Update Is Here" type of threads to get good PR down the road.
This is really gonna depend on the distribution/volume of links. Honestly, I would have to say no, its' not gonna help PR. But it may helps in the SERP's
serps is important, and i think it will improve your serps... depends on your posts.. Good DP threads have backlinks on blogs, other forums, or other websites... and DP has good linking structure..
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=153779 That topic is 97 days old, and has 24 pages, Thats the kind of thread that would get you good serps?
http://support.invisionfree.com/index.php?showuser=69308 << That my account and it's PR3 Would that count towards anything; if I put links in there?
I have a site where the only links to it were on my dp sig and I just got PR4 So it must contribute somehow
Why do I get the feeling that this thread is going to start a trend of certain members bumping old threads in the hope of receiving some PR / link juice?
YES ..there are trusted by google and are used to kick start the new site very well. :0) There ..Not The Holy Grail of links ..but they are worth leaving.
...hmmmm yeah, just what we need -- not only new 'the google update is here' threads, but bumps of old 'the google update is here' threads as well
You do that and a Mod will Ban you soon for bumping old threads for nothing useful... You don't expect a thread to get good PR as soon as it's started, do you?
2 years ago , started developing a site and made like 20 posts in different forums asking for advice. but for some reason i got bored with it so i let the site to up but totally forgot about it. 4 months later i accidentally checked the site and was shocked by seeing it had PR5. .
I do not care about PR. Think about the community you are getting over here at any point time. You are getting solutions for your every query. Forget about PR, enjoy community.
Are all of you here to get the link to your sites. I never thought forum sig links are so important, after all most of the threads have PR 0. Till now I considered sig links as just a by-product of being here.
