I'm plan to build up a forum for my country but seem like all the domain I interested in already been registered. If I use the one like .cc or .co will it effect in a bad way for google search or in any other part? The reason for the question is because I've never seen any popular site using any extension more than a .com
EDIT: I forgot to mention the key word, for me I believe any other extension that is not .com will make the site looks unprofessional and less credibility.

    - .CO .TV .ME .CC are viewed as gTLDs on search engines.
    - .CO.UK .US .WS .EU are viewed as ccTLDs on search engines.
    - The reason you see .COM ranking high is because there is more .COM websites then anything else.
    - 1/3 chances that your going to see a popular site using another extension on the 1st page of google.
    - I have seen .CO and .CC ranking higher then .COM
