It may well be a stupid question, anyway here it is :)

Does domain TLD matters for eventual earning prospects from adsense..? E.g. two websites having same rank, links etc - but one .com and another .info.

    Not at all :)

But webpage name matters some of the time like

    www.yoursite.com/butter.html
there are good chances to get ads about "butter".

But remember ads depend on your content mostly.

Wouldn't the TLD matter indirectly though. .com domains do get more traffic than .org and .info, simply because they are more memorable because it was the first domain type launched.

If youget more traffic, you get more page impressions and more clicks. It may not matter to the contextual ad targeting, but it could have a big impact on earnings IMO.

I agree that .com domains are more memorable but other domains enjoy equal standing as far as search engines are concerned.

Let say HaHaHa.com is more memorable than HaHaHa.ws. What will be the senerio if HaHaHa.ws (say ranking # 10) is more popular than HaHaHa.com (say ranking # 250) with the search engines for the same keyword/phrase?

My 2-cent mind tells me that in this particular case HaHaHa.was will be more memorable because the other one with .com domain was seldom found.

It depend on the source of your traffic. If all of your traffic come from search engine, a 20 char domain won't hurt..

however, if your main source of traffic is from type in, .com and .net make a big different...

My understanding (from readings, discussions, etc) is that almost 75% of net traffic being conveyed by search engines.

As long as one can develop good contents, the traffic will be there. Not necessary to have a memorable domain like Business.com

say you have mortgages.com as your domain... then its far better for adsense targeting than mynewsite.com

keywords in domain matter...not the extension

Sub-domains and folders worked equally fine too provided the contents are keywords-targetted and regularly updated.
