Does the domain term of life still matter when buying a new domain? Example, what's better? To register a domain for 1 year or 3/5 years for example? I've heard that Google favors domains that have more than 1 year life to them as they are less likely to disappear. But what if you only want to register a domain for a year as a test? I've personally found success with 1 year domains the same as 5 year domains. But have you noticed any ranking difference for domains with a longer expiration date?
I think that Matt Cutts has already answered this question. Read this http://rapidwebseo.com/matt-cutts-does-domain-age-really-matter.php
My domain www.technetbd.com/services/ expired while i forgot to renew on time, for about 1 month, the domain name lost and then i renewed it before deletion, can anybody please help explaining this fact as i can remain careful in future to keep it up for always. Thanks
Hi, Yes, for a new site, domain age is a factor, because typically a new site does not have much content on it, so for that reason it will be more difficult to rank well in the search index. The fact is that an older domain that has been established has earned a greater level of trust with Google than a younger domain that is not as established. But Matt admits that this is true to a point, but domain age is an insignificant factor that really carries very little weight in the Google algorithm.
I don't think this will help you to get a better SERP. It can only help your clients to be sure that they visit a SERIOUS company (your website)!
