    Hello,
I need your opinions on what you people thinks that Domain extention have any influence in seo ?
Is it possible to rank on #1 for a competitive keyword with other than .com extention in Google & Yahoo like if i have any single word domain with .ag or .gs extentions can i get #1 over .com ?

In my opinion .com, .net, .org, .biz, etc. shouldn't matter for SEO, but when you use a regional tld like .nl or .be they may have an influence on the rankings. So, I wouldn't suggest using something like .co.uk unless you want to rank on google.co.uk

If your content is better than .com then you can certainly rank. But you need to keep in mind that .com will have advantage over your extension no matter what.
For example the .com must be older than your domain ( else why will you opt for a non .com domain )
Yes, .net .org etc have equal influence only .info has a reduced influence and other tlds work better for regional search than global search.
But in the end what all that matters is quality and if you have better quality, you will rank no matter what.

See, the effect of type of extension is very feeble compared to the influence of content and backlinks in SEO.
The only thing in which they matter the most is the memorability of the website name. thats it.

Normally it would be true that you would use a .net (or other non .com tld) because the .com is taken, so the .com must be older than your domain. But a lot of times the preferred .com is just parked (and the person selling it wants a ridiculous amount of money for it) so it wouldn't be much competition.

Yup, in the end the only thing that matters is quality!

.com, .org, .net are usually the most popular domains and it is better to use them to get better rankings but in the end it is the quality of content in your site that will matter. i have seen websites with domains other than the ones mentioned rank as no 1.

Generally speaking, Google is Top Level Domain (TLD) agnostic. In other words, they don't care whether your domain uses .com, .net, .org, .info, etc.

HOWEVER, that being said... using Country Coded Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) CAN affect how you rank. ccTLDs are great if you're wanting to rank in THAT country's view of Google. For example, mydomain.co.uk is great if I want to rank in Google.co.uk... not so great if I want to rank in Google.com. Non-cc-TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .info, etc.) are great if you want to ranking in Google.com OR Google.com plus certain country specific views of Google.

So if you're wanting to rank in Google.com which I'm guessing you do, you're better off NOT using a ccTLD.

It seems like everyone in my industry is grabbing this new .co with just the major keywords in it. I grabbed a couple but had to settle for dashes in the url. Do you guys think its worth it? They are going pretty fast from what I can see.
