    Hi all,

Does domain age matters for keyword ranking. I have seen that old domain tends to easy to optimize while new domain takes some time for ranking. Please share your view on this and what would be the best strategy for new domain ?

Yes it certainly helps - but buying one risks problems.
A friend recently bought an old domain then a couple of days after setting it up and logging into her Google webmasters account, she found a notice that her site had been cited for having phishing elements on it - a problem cause by the previous owner.

It definately does. That's why its not a bad idea to purchase a domain and park it for a year...like fine wine.. I have a few domains parked at all times ready to develope....

The domain age doesn't really have an affect. If there has been no linkbuilding done for the domain. The age of the backlinks is important. If you buy domain that is 10 years old with no content and no content there isn't a difference to a new one.

I'm sure domain age is a factor, I'm just not sure it ranks high enough to be much help. I have a site in Google's index since 2000, domain was never used before (unique name), and has always had an active site on it. The domain name expires in 2011 or 2012, yet my Google traffic is almost nonexistent.

So, while domain age may be a factor, it would seem almost anything could override it, because this site is white hat.

Ya definitely it's play a role, in simple terms human methodology search engines used to trust the old domains as they are doing business for certain years of time. which increase their authority & quality of service,

If you are looking to buy any old domain then be sure to check whether that domain is doing business in ur niche or not? & should take care is that domain is penalized by Google or other search engines for any violations.

Domain age matters alot. It also helps when you register domain for more than one year in advance. Google can apparently check all that among other things. Also google and others love the main keywords in domain name, but more than 3 words in domain might not be such a good idea.
