    Does Domain age matter?
    Few days ago I bought a domain name and started my own website but unfortunately after a couple of week, I saw this domain is very old ( 13 oct 2007 )
    Just want to ask you, does domain age matter in the ranking of my site?
    Can I optimize my site without any fear? will my site get ranked high if I do proper optimization?
    Kindly share you thoughts on this matter or related to this.

    Thank you

    It matters, because older domains get more weight from Google in their search ranking algorithm, but it's just one of the many factors so nothing to worry about. If you can build an awesome site that will be worth reading Google will put it high in the SERPs whether it is 2 months old or 8 years.

    Yes! old domains are most search engine friendly. The crawling will also be little more faster as compared to the new domains.

    Domain age is one of the ranking factor. Older the domain easier it is for ranking. But it is not the only factor, you should also look into the other factors for ranking your site

    yes old domains are a representative of stability in search engines' eyes. you will get much profit when you have an old domain name. But one thing very strange. You bought a new domain name, how it became old? did you buy it from hosting company or from an individual? Anyway, optimize it properly. you will achieve the goal :)

    i've noticed that my older domains rank better, and not because of content. but because of age. :) so i'd say yes.

    # Domain age can play a minor part only as damping factor – i.e. one of the factors signaling the search engine that this might be a spammy / illegitimate site;
    # Old domains may carry more weight due to their past records (i.e. old backlinks pointing to them) – this can be a good point to consider but then again if you are serious about your brand, keep in mind that an established domain already has associations and history before you own it and they might be hard to conquer.

    for me age doesn't matter because if you are doing continues link building on a new domain it will increase your rankings and traffic.

    Yes, old domains are good provided you should cross check the history of domain by going to Archive.org and checking the content of that domain in Google, Yahoo and MSN. If the domain is relevant to you business subject then there is no harm but you need to be sure about using the ethical on page seo strategy with an effective off page optimization to get your targeted keywords ranked in Google, Yahoo and MSN.

    In all you need to be unique and original:)

    Thanks,
    AG
