    Hi everybody,

Does anyone know if DMOZ still matter for google ranking?
I have several problem to be listed in DMOZ directory.
After months of submission, there is no listing, and no answers.
I read somewhere that todays DMOZ is important for google ranking and listing.
    Please help me.

I you had read some of the threads here instead of just posting you would know
    1. Reviews for a possible listing can take from a few days to a few years
    2. Multiple submissions of the same URL is prohibited by the guidelines you keep agreeing to every time you suggest a site
    3. Suggesting a site more than once can disadvantage the site from causing delay of that all important review up to the site being banned permanently as spam.

    Best advice
STOP suggesting the same site/s and hope that your site/s await review and have not been banned. Either way there is nothing you can do about it.

DEMOZ listing is still important for the Google ranking. But this is very much difficult to get listing in this open directory. It will take time. Did you submitted in appropriate category? Please follow the Instruction of Demoz properly.

DMOZ is most reputed directory and back link from Dmoz matters in Ranking. but its not necessary that you have not submitted your site in dmoz you cant get rank in google.
Dmoz always accept quality sites and use the proper category to submit your website in Dmoz.

I have submitted my site one month ago and I am not in their list. I have tried again a couple of weeks ago and still nothing. Do you think I could be categorized as spam? If yes how could I overcome this?
    thanks

If you have forget it, there is no way back. But you might just still sit in the suggestions pool. No way you can find out that either. So just forget it and hope, perhaps one day you might find you have got a listing. Should have read those guidelines a bit more carefully, we don't write them because we are bored.

There are better ways to build backlinks and be listed by google.

Usually these kinds of sites takes a long time to approve submissions.

I think you can forget about DMOZ, I used to bother with it a few years ago, not any more and my sites are doing fantastically well so tell me, is DMOZ still important? Definately not to me.

It's still has some influence has many directories simply take their database from the DMOZ, so when you're accepted that means you're not only accepted on DMOZ, but also on many other directories. Been waiting 3 years to get on it :(

I don't think not listed in dmoz is creating any trouble for my sites. PR and visitor flow both are quite good.

Being DMOZ listed means something in Google rankings. it is believed that Google regards DMOZ as one of their ranking factors.

It might have been true last century but Google claimed a while ago that this is no longer so; the true professional SEOs here would agree. The only folks who still believe it are either living in a time warp or parroting what other time warp dwellers say. Not cool.
