Hello, I'm currently looking for new ways of advertising my bidding directory. I wonder, does a side banner worth 40$/month there? http://www.directorycritic.com/banner-advertising.html If there's anyone who has (or had) a listing there, please review Waiting for you replies. Thanks, Radu
It has alexa rank 20,254. Most of them are targeted traffic. imo its very much worth advertising in directorycritic. Thought the present advertisers can tell us better.
In August when I was heavily promoting zorg-links I had my banner there. It brought 5-15 visits a day so by the end of the month it worked out at very targetted traffic with a useful bounce rate. A great ROI, although I had a professional animated banner made. I think those with the static home-made looking banners won't get as good CTR as I did.
I took out a banner last year, really bad timing for me though, i would do it again in the future, i saw no return but my timing for the months banner was terrible, my fault.
The average banner ad performs around .01% CTR. Unless the traffic at Directory Critic is huge, the clicks will be minimal. Check out their forum for an idea of the traffic.
I've been there a full month with a 125x125 on the sidebar. At the end of the month according to google analytics I had only 43 visitors and since I added my site in their directory I have a total of 88 visits from directorycritic. The ROI on my investment was closer to ZERO, I had one conversion only of 4.99 USD and paid to DC for a month of sidebar adv of 125x125 40 usd. I had a very beautiful banner there. The only thing at that time my directory was PR3, now it is PR5 so might worth a try to see if the conversion is better now for my directory.
no it is not worth it to advertise there. It will increase your exposure (ie. traffic) and that is about it. I have advertised there before and the conversion was not very high.
I had a sitewide link there and The cost off advertising wiped out all income directly attributable to directory critic, plus more I was there 6 months or so Sadly, at $40, I think its too expensive, I am hoping the new owner will revise his price as you do really get traffic , its just that the figures don't lie more spent than earned Great for branding though
I think that it really comes down to the type of traffic that directory critic receives. Do visitors to directory critic come there looking for paid directories or lists of free directories. I don't really know the answer to that question. If you feel that it is mostly used for lists of free directories then advertising a paid directory there might not get you the targeted traffic your looking for. It seems that those who responded in the thread who have advertised there have not been getting good conversion rate which may indicate most traffic that goes there is looking for lists of free directories.
Has anyone considered that advertising a paid directory on a site thats full of free link chasers isn't the best idea...?
i have the premium spot with banner and link text in up right of every page for 5 days now and the results so far is very poor(5 visits) 100% bounce rate,no revenue. But is too early,i wll let you know in 10 days when i will have more acurate results.
Thanks for the replies. Though, I purchased a banner for a month, let's see how it works out. What's strange is that I paid nearly 16 hours ago and sent the details and still no reply from the critic.
If you're looking for banner advertising and have a 125 x 125 banner, check this thread - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=726749
I havent advertised on directory critic but other sited with good traffic like iwebtool. Personally I would say do not bother unless you are offering something special and different and your ad stands out.
