Does Directory submissions still count?

Hey guys i was thinking if i should register my site on web directories. Is it good for seo? also for referral traffic. i am talking about normal submissions not paid or something.

Really we can not get so much traffic from directory but we can get back links from directory submission , we can say that directory submission is the good way to get one way back links.

I think that if i could ever expect at least 1 visit from a directory a year and i get 2500 submissions(from a website that detects and shows the top xxxx directories). i can still get 2500 visitors per year. so that's about 208 per month. I know my calculations are weird but they are working. OMG i got this frickin idea of a post for my blog. see ya.

 

Depend on the directory. If you are approved by DMOZ it will be a great advantage. Another one is Yahoo Directory but paid. Directory submission take more time than other baclinking methods.

Google still and in the unforeseeable future includes back links from directories in their search algorithm. Each back link is a vote for your website, the anchor text and description around it helps your site rank higher for your keywords. Ongoing submission to directories should be part of your regular SEO duties.

Yes I still consider directory submission is a source of free backlinks .....So I dont usually abandon in using it whenever I have new site /blog to promote or link build

 

If you ask me, I would take every chance, even if it gets me one visit per day. Because, you have to take advantage of everything, I'd say go for it!

sure it is. Get site listed in great directory is equal to great backlinks.
only good website deserve the listing. and so the search engine will credit the link

 

If you want backlinks then its great to submit to directory. There are quite a few directories achieve high PageRank by inbound links from other directories.

If you want high traffic, then depends on the directory's niche.

 

Of course it is a good source of getting backlinks to a website.

 

each and every backlink does matter ... no matter where it comes from. directory submission does matter and it must be continued if you are working on other seo factors
