Does Directory submission is still effective??

Hi Guys i know this is very silly and weird question but i have to ask.
I am trying to collect the backlinks but i was just wondering does directory submission is still effective because as per new updation in Google i don't think so it will effect more..
Need you suggestion guys.

 

Directory submissions is a old concept which still many are doing. However if you submit to good local directories it would help in terms of sites like yelp.com and other local sites. Other directories sites are of no use, it just useless and just time consuming. Instead focus more on social specially G+

 

Yes, it is still effective if you do submit in a high Page Rank websites.

 

A backlink will always help, but make sure they are dofollow directories. The value given to directories has reduced a lot since last few years.

 

Yes, Its more effective because if you submitted your link a PR-5 directory then you getting a back link of PR-5 and its a quality of back link which helps to increase your PR.

directory submission is not benefited now article submission is very useful when compared to directory submition because they have some articles about the webpage and links and also comment our articles based on that article our website getting very good backlinks and top most in the organic search results it must very understandable and unique

It is an old method and still it is working, but you can also do following things with directory submission to get back links:
Web 2.0
Blog Posting (Do follow and top commentator widget blogs)
CSS Submission
Blog Commenting
Link wheel
Profile Link building
Forum Posting
Book Marking etc.

its still helpful, though it would be more ideal if you can use various SEO techniques for your campaign...

 

In my opinion its an old concept and no long has any value in SEO unless you can get DMOZ listed.

 

Yes directory is still effective but not as powerful if you have links coming from guest posting. But some how as I said from this post you need to diversify your link sources to avoid traced by google that your manipulating links for search rankings.

Yes, Directory submission will be sure to back link but after some time, It's my experiences and Directory submission will be 25% to 30% approve after one month.

Directory submission do offer backlink (as i can see from the directory site itself and the sharing from bloggers), but I don't see any backlink from directory at my site at the moment yet. Nevertheless, I'll still try.
