    Submitting to high PR quality directory only helps. But it is a very slow process as directories take lot of time to approve links.

    as said by above folk that, directory submissions is first step for SEO in off page, but now is google giving more importance to directory submsissions or not? if yes, then its well and gud., if not i say that rather doing directory submissions, better to go for one way link building..,

    Not any junk directory can contribute in improving Search rankings... One submission on trusted directory can out rank many submission on junk directories.
    So you better look out for trusted directories and then submit your website.
