    Ive submitted sites before to 100% free directories only, no other promotional method and they have resulted in getting pr.

    I heard they do, thats why I am submitting when ever I can :)

    You just need to submit your links to lots of directories which have high pr.

    Yes it does. But dont just rely on directories. Any time google may slap you and your PR will be all gone.

    Well, considering Google calculates PR largely based on incoming links to your website, yes. Article marketing and directory submission DOES help.

    Yes. Almost every PR update, I try submitting new websites to around 1000 directories. This time I got PR1 for one of them and PR2 for a couple more. Earlier PR3 was not difficult at all.
