Does Directories Actually Drive Traffic To Your Website?

    Ok, recently I have submitted to some high ranking directories with about PR4 ranking. But i've not got ANY traffic from them. Does anyone have any idea or any suggestions? Does directories still work or its just to boost our website ranking?

    It would be great if someone can recommend some guide to this as well.

    Actually only popular directories can drive enough traffic,
    Site ranking and serp are more important...

    I do not think directory will drive directe traffic to your site.but should help ranking.

    Directories that are popular always drive traffic to your sit.. directories like Yahoo and Dmoz drive most of the traffic..

    The only time I have got traffic from directories is when I bought sitewide links from them, I use directories only for getting backlinks !!

    Most directories will only help you increase PR and SERPs. However, there are some niche directories that get search engine traffic and some of those clicks make it back to you. Take a look at the directories in your niche then try a google search for some of the long tail terms on their page and see if they come up. If they do there is a good chance you'll get some traffic from them.

    In addition, the link to your site will be more relevant which will boost you in the search engines.

    Directories helps in building backlinks not in bringing traffic to the site. If you want to get traffic, you must participate in seo forums as much as possible.

    You may get occasional traffic... very sparse. But as already stated, its function is more as an enhancement of your SEO rather than a traffic generator.

    One of my travel related website listed on Yahoo Dir via good position, I never get traffic from Yahoo Dir. I use directories only for increasing my SERP and backlinks.

    Except few high traffic directories, the remaining are non traffic pullers; however they will be helpful in improving your PR if they have one.
