Does Digital Point Serve Marketers Well?

    Hi
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm sure someone will tell me if not.

I joined this forum (and others) to connect with people and to market myself and my products. This type of marketing is forum marketing as I'm sure we all know. Forum marketing is an acceptible form of marketing but forum spamming is not acceptable to any of us legitimate marketers.

Digital Point moderators have taken steps to discourage spammers by making all links in signatures 'nofollow' links. Nofollow links tend to get ignored by Google and other search engines so from an SEO perspective they don't have much use. But to a human visitor, a nofollow link is the same as any other link so from a traffic generation vewpoint, nofollow links are still valuable.

I've noticed too that the signature doesn't appear to anyone who is not logged into Digital Point. Guest vewers that may have got to the forum from a search result don't see our signatures. This is diluting the usefulness of the sig.

Now don't get me wrong! Digital Point moderators have done this to deter spammers and I applaud their proactive efforts. This forum has a lot of great posts and an interesting active community. But in deterring spammers they are also deterring legitimate marketers. Hence my question in the title of this thread.

So to break that down a little further:
    1. Are you here for marketing purposes as well as connecting with the community?
    2. Do you feel that Digital Point serves your needs well; and why?

I'd be interested to read people's views
