Thats just not true in this country as I say the company wont even look at your details unless you have a degree over here (Assuming it is a job they are asking for a degree). Unless you can get your foot in the door somehow like knowing somebody who works for the company and getting a recommendation, once in the interveiw yeah it comes down to what you know, your experiance and you attitude.
School can also be for fun, I recently enrolled in a correspondence chef school. I mailed in a meatloaf last week and am waiting for to hear how I did.
I agree with that statement. It's not just what you know, it's how you make the most of it as an individual. If you have the drive and hunger for success, you will be much more successful than a lazy Einstein
Really depends on what you are doing and how quickly you want to get there. Either way, from what I have read, Einstein wasn't that great in school, so you analogy doesn't add up
I have always been firm believer that a degree in any area is an asset. You may never work in your field of study but think degree exhibits willingness to complete a task. There are many studies that show lifetime earning potential is directly related to education level. See http://www.ericdigests.org/2003-3/value.htm I think IT/CS area is one of the areas schools do the poorest job since technology is changing so rapidly.
I strongly believe that degree makes difference. Not because of I am a degree holder, but i have experience of it. In today's world only "Knowledge" is not important. But you should have certain "Skills" that makes difference. Degree holder can adopt such "Skills" easily. Degree holder can understand technical side very easily.
I hate this degree programs... Its so dumb of my company.. they hired me as SEO Trainee because i m still undergradute.. and do you whats my job profile? i have to train my SEO PROJECT LEADER.. i have to take interviews i have to go on campus interview to find best guy.. i have to run affiliate program, i have to run PPC .. and hell lot of stuff My salary is Rs.8000 i.e. $181/Month and my project leader's salary is Rs.20000 i.e. $444 and that dumb man dont even know how to configure Microsoft outlook.. he holds MBA degree thats the F**** differnece i hate.. why dont people look at the skills and go run behind DUMB DEGREE'S... Note: I am in college and i had been given this topic to speak on ( btw i m very popular in college) and i stood first .. it was debate in front of 35,000 students of GREAT M.S. University between 12 final guys and ... HURRAY I won
It is not fair. You should ask for more salary. By the way in training your Project Leader, it is good. You will learn a lot. Even i am aslo in the same position. My Project leader just bring client and discuss with them about price. All work i have to do. They don't know even about SEO other than link exchange. They only have good experience in Business Development. Congratulation!
Lol thanx Mohit.. i just waiting for the best time.. because dey need me & i dont so lets see how it goes Thanx for congo
i guess it depends on what country you are... here it is very important to have a degree to find a good job.
i think, no matter what... a degree is an accomplishment that you owe to yourself and that you should be proud of no matter what.
I find this very funny. No offence but even if the World's best chef made a meatloaf and sent it through the mail to me I don't know if i would eat it.
Are meetloafs like a fine wine, better with age? As far as the college topic, you want to play with the big boys, you have to pay your time. You can't be a know it all with no clout and think you should run the company. The people who are complaining, it's up to you to take yourself to the next level. If you dont like where you are at, take yourself to the next level. Change jobs, start your own business, gain extra experience, get extended education. Unless you are Gods gift to business your resume most likely will be in the circular filing cabinet. There is a heck of a lot more to a successful career than knowing how to push the buttons on a computer. Best action is to take action...
