Does daterange work ?

Hello. I'm working on an application using Google API.

I want to look for "NEW" published pages on specific sites; my idea is to use the "daterange:" search term.

Then, everyday, I would search for pages using as "daterange" as follows: yesterdaydate-todaydate (in Julian format of course).

However, I could not obtain any consistent result: sometimes I get thousands of results, with very old dates obviously no between the "daterange".

Does daterange work? Anybody is using it in this same manner ?
Is the date daterange uses the date when the PAGE was indexed by Google? or the last date that SITE was updated ?

    Thank you very much
    JJ
