Does CTR effect per click earnings?

OK, this may or may not be confusing. On my sites, I currently earn between $.35 and $.40 for every click made (average for the month). I was getting around 3,000 impressions per day, and the rate has held pretty firm for about 6 months now, though traffic has been increasing on one of my sites that earns the most income.

So, yesterday, I decided to add adsense to one of my forums so that it shows up on each page between posts, similar to here on DP. My guess is that site alone will get around 8,000 - 10,000 views per day, if not more. I also guess that site will very low click through rate, so my overall CTR will drop like a rock.

My question is will the increased impressions hurt the amount per click I am getting, or is this just a stupid question?

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah, your overall CTR will drop obviously if you have one with say 15% and then one with %0.5. It may look abit crap overall, but as long as your other sites weaping the benefits of itself, you can always take time to improve the forums placement.. right?

    Doesn't hurt the CPC.

I had an inverse situation: A page with lots of pageviews but low CTR (tech blog, worse than forums ;)), like, 0.1% or 0.2%.

Then I started to build other kinds of websites, and in some I am making 10-20% CTR. And they pay good money per-click, better than the tech blog...

Thanks for the input. I guess we will see, doesn't seem to be effecting anything else. Thanks again, I will let you know if I see any change.

If anything logic would say it should increase the CPC. Less people clicking means they are actually more interested than a lot of people clicking in few impressions meaning they are just clicking because they have nothing else to do and wanna check it out.

It's not a stupid question at all. What you are referring to is called "smart pricing", and yes, if you have a lower CTR, (more page views, fewer clicks), then it *will* lower your CPC and you will make less. Do a search for smart pricing on jensense and you'll find lots more to read.
