Does CTR affects your earnings?

My ctr before was 8-10% when I just had one website . When I added 3 more websites, my ctr went down to 4% because these new websites are getting only page impressions and no clicks. So does CTR affect your earnings?

The old website might have good CTR, but total CTR may come down coz of new websites.

    That means
You don't have good placement of ads in new website.

Place ads in correct location where users click, analyze that using heat map (open source tool).

If you have 8-10% of CTR for one website, your placement is excellent or your clicking your own ads.

But don't cross 10% it is dangerous.

If the traffic is from search engines not from other sources then CTR shouldn't be a problem.

It's better not to have CTR above 10% so as not to arouse suspicion in the eyes of the Google. Better CTR means better earnings. You need to do adsense optimization in terms of ad placement, layout and the colours used.

Perhaps mpak11 misstated his question. We all know that a higher CTR will increase earnings. I think what he *meant* to ask is if CTR affects the CPC paid. In other words, will Google display lower paying ads if you have a lower CTR knowing there's not as much of a chance that those ads will be clicked on?

It's more then just CTR. I have sites with extremely low CTR (little traffic) and higher CPC. Conversions on the clicks has a lot to do with it.

So, how you control your CTR to be below 10% if visitor click on the ads and all the click is natural click?

Yeah.. that's the matter of concern. If it happens though we have no way to realize google that all clicks are legit. :(

You are right, that's what I meant....since I added new websites my CTR went down because I am not getting clicks for them....only for my one website which has high CTR before....

I have 90% organic traffic because my websites are loaded with content....and have many backlinks....

Of course it does if your traffic stays the same. Try to get more traffic and higher CTR is the key to make more from Adsense.

The CTR may be affected by google's ad. sometimes, Google may display irrelavent ads on my sites, this greatly reduced the CTR. I think it is better to have keyword optimized pages, so that google can better determine the content that fits your pages' content.

Thanks all for the reply.... i decided to remove the google ads from my new websites so my CTR will be higher again....will work on their traffic first and then put ads again once they are established.
