Does creating a YouTube Video Tour of your site help

My partner created a video tour of our reviews site to give everyone a lazy way to explore the site without reading much. He also thinks the exposure on YouTube and embedding the video on the homepage will help gain and keep traffic. I’m not so sure, but was wonder what everyone else thought? I don’t’ often see a video tour of sites that don’t actually sell anything.

Take a look if you wish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feiMiHIfgBY&

Well it will only gain traffic from youtube if people are actually viewing the video. And for them to view the video they have to search for it. If it was about a popular topic then i would say yes you will get some traffic but since it's about your own site i would say not really.

You need to make videos that appeal to your target audience.

From a user point of view in youtube, I would say to myself "what's in for me" - entertainment, help completing a task (how to create ebook cover).

eg. A video on how to use this forum would be nice.

Video tours is definitely innovative considering most ppl learn more visually than from anything else.
