I've yet to get paid more than a penny for CPM ads, do they ever pay more than that? Is there any way to ban the ability for advertisers to use CPM ads?
One cent per ad is very high for CPM (CPM=$10). CPM typically is around $1 per 1000 impressions, not $10. I just ran a comparison the other day, here - http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/adsense-targeting.htm - Adsense Targeting Options and here - http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/internet-ad-networks.htm - CPC vs. CPM Comparison and Analysis Read the "Conclusions" on each page. I agree with you - CPM ads stink, WHEN COMPARED with CPC ads. There is no comparison. You can have the AdSense support staff turn off your "site targeting", which will get rid of all CPM ads. It takes 2 emails - the first one for "please turn it off", the second one to confirm "yes, I am sure". Done. Just watch your average CPM go up, and overall revenue (my case). Later, if you feel that you made a mistake, they will turn it back on for you.
Thanks for the tip. Either I'm confusing CPM ads showing up and depositing a penny, or some other method is causing a couple cents here and there to enter my adsense account, when no ads have been clicked yet. If it is CPM, then it's an awfully good deal some of the same old banners that keep appearing at the top of my site, seemingly without ever doing much for me!
