say i have a campaign running where i have good CTR for most keywords and adgroups (3-5% CTR) and they have been running for a week or so..my QS is great and google has lowered my CPC a little bit but not very much...

will google continue to lower the CPC over time without me touching my bid ? or should i steadilly lower it by a few cents ever day or two ( its a competitive niche...bid is $2 / click now and paying about 1.85 avg..with 2nd spot

    any help is appreciated..thx

in my experience it takes 3 months to get a well established QS. I had a client once that we took over from a previous management company. We had to use a brand new adwords account for them since the previous agency could not give us their old account. At the end of 3 months, we were finally able to match the same pricing they were getting with the previous company.

So you will see a drop in CPC over time, as long as your QS is getting better over time and not worse

thx for your response but you didn't really answer my question...

do you have to gradually lower the bid yourself ?? or just leave the initial bid alone and the price will continue to get lower ?? anyone else ?

You should gradually lower your bids over time for optimal positioning. If left alone CPC will also drop automatically, but a combination of both is most effective.

it will go down by itselft over time. however, you also should lower your CPC by one decimal point at a time to maintain the spot you want. if your CPC keeps going down and you prefer to be at 2nd or 3rd spot, google might end up showing your ads on 1st spont due to reduced bid cost.
