Does CPC affect impressions? Not according to Google. I found this very useful chart for Google Adwords: https://adwords.google.com/select/sliderprimer/Overview According to the chart, the way to maximum impressions is an unlimited budget. I'm also surprise to know that CPC do not affect the number of impressions. Doesn't it make sense that the higher I bid for a particular keyword, the more impressions it will generate? Because a higher CPC will result in a higher ad placement, generating more views (impressions). Suppose I bid for a term like 'loans', and my max CPC is $0.10 while my competitor bids $10. And the both of us have unlimited budget. Its just doesn't seem likely that I will have the same number of impressions as my competitor. Anyone have any insights?
The number of impressions you receive is based on your bid and budget. The higher your bid the more lilely you will be in the top spots and the higher your daily budget the more your ad will be shown to fulfill that budget.
Take no notice. You wouldn't get the same number of impressions, as your advert would be on page 10 or something with that bid. That example looks to be using just one page. If you were on the same page, with a lower bid, you would get the same number of impressions on the Google search network roughly as if you had a higher bid. CPC directly influences ad rank, which in turn directly influences the number of impressions your ad will receive.
I think Google are trying to push the point that, if you want your adverts to show all the time (get impressions & make them potentially more money...) you need to have a nice open budget cap. Although, they just seem to have confused people...!
