Does copying contents from other websites affects my website ranking?

I believe that copying contents from other websites is wrong ,but if I got the permission to do so from the owner , will that affect my website ranking if we consider that all of my website contents are obtained this way ?

and what is the solution !?

ps: i have searched for this in the forum but all i've found is 'duplicate content' questions that deal with duplicate pages in the same website.

Google will penalize you from taking direct content from another source because the engine is looking for original content. So, it would be preferable to take this source as an inspiration and re-write your own content. If you "copy/paste" content from other sites word for word, Google will try to determine the original content and will "penalize" the others... slightly.

you will not have much of a ranking if you copy content from other sites. google will most likely deindex your site for copied content.

It is still considered as duplicate content issue and your content will not be indexed once it is recognized as copied contents.

I may lead to some penalty as well, so try not to continue with this method, even though you have the permission to copy the contents.

Instead, you can give a URL link to the specific site or redirect your page to the original site.

I have been taking other websites as reference and then developing my content accordingly, if that hurts

References are good but originality is essential.

People do talk a lot of nonsense about duplicate content - there is no duplicate penalty for having content on your site that has published somewhere else - there is a duplicate filter.
Google doesn't want to show a page of identical results for any given search query, so will filter out the duplicates - it will assume that the original is the one it indexed first (which may not in fact be the original, if your work is copied by a site that is older, has higher PR, more backlinks, that site may be the one that is considered by Google as the original)
In your situation, if none of your content is original, you will always be competing against the site where the content was first published and always be at a disadvantage

When you use the copied article, I suggest you to add the source as well. It will not effect your site's other page's rank, but the page with this article maybe rank lower.

Many article directories offer articles for syndication, free of cost, provided you maintain the links to the source as embedded in the original article. So that is not cause for penalty if copying content from other website. But at best, the rank or value of such copied articles may be discounted at best.

It will only affect your site so far as the copied text might not come up in serps as it is duplicate content. Its always best to create new text!

Unfortunately to some extent yes , Google is always looking for fresh content..Thats why you may have heard blogs doing farely good these days..coz search engines assume they are updated frequently..

If you have lots of original content but some copied ones that does not affect badly..But the other way round it will do harm...

There is only one solution as Matt Cutt (Google Search head) says
    Unique Content
