Does Clutter affect CTR?

    Hi there.

I am the owner of http://www.qualitysheetmusic.com

Im just wondering: my page is pretty cluttered with banners and information. Will that affect the CTR? If I simplified the page by removing all the pictures, banners and text, will it increase CTR?

For what it's worth I went to look for your Google ads and searched down the page trying to find them. I really did not see them at first. I think they blend in too much, make them look a little more cluttered.

I find it a bit more cluttered. And too many ads. Probability of clicking on the ad is less.

@my44 - I know you try to promoting your site, but most of people here already know how to make borderless ads. Your tips is useful but its suitable for adsense newbies. No offense dude, I know you working hard for that, but sometime it is obvious that you just want to promoting your site

    OK noted.

I bet even diddy is not really a newbie then. I'll remove my posting. Yeah, I'm such an arsehole.

It's a very nice site, but yeah I would cut down on the ads. That goes for the Adsense ads as well, one well placed ad unit could perform better than 3.

this is where the paranoia sets in,you say that one block will perform better than 3 and i agree, but those good people at google adsense tell us they will only show top paying ads anyway.

Well it would make sense to me that if you only have 1 ad, that would be the top paying one. If you have 3 I doubt they would all pay as much.

meh I doubt anyone can really proof anything. They may have observed that it makes no difference on their sites, but it could be niche dependent or whatever.
Anyway 1 ad block still looks nicer than 3 :).
