Does changing registrar affect rankings?

Stupid Question. I'm sure its no, but I wanted to be sure.

I want to move from register.com and consolidate all my domains on godaddy instead. Rankings won't be affected will they? I've waited till the holiday season to die down a little before I considered it (really LOL).

They will be fine, its funny how we can get over paranoid about small things like that, if the hosting aint changing and its just the registrar then crack on!

The answer is definitely no. I've done this twice in the past 6 months. Changing hosts won't usually affect rankings either, the only exception being (sometimes) regional search engine rankings.

It shouldn't be. It must be very difficult for search engines to calculate this.

generally no. About the comment about this being hard for SE to calculate, to get easier access to this type of info is one of the reasons Google became an accredited registar.

Minstrel is spot on, It will make no difference other than any downtime. Moving to a new host is fine unless the country changes or you have downtime. I have changed loads of sites and it makes no difference :)

Yep - downtime is the main issue to be careful of.

You need to leave at least 4 days, really, before cancelling your old account.

Also, I once moved a site, cancelled the old account once propagated - then suffered a serious problem with the site database that lost a third of the content. The transfer copy had been corrupted. Moral being - don't close your old account until you're sure you have working backups.

Change registrars should not cause any downtime, unless you happen to be using your registrars name servers.

Name servers are not changing; just the registrar (helluva lot cheaper to renew for 10 years at godaddy than at register LOL). Thanks - I figured it was being paranoid. :)

As far as I know. Changing registrars will not affect your rankings.

It won't affect the ranking but if your transfer will take longer and Google
will update their ranking at same time, then it might have some effect.
