i saw a few people using captcha in their blogs. how does that work for you guys? according to this article, captcha sucks http://www.itworldcanada.com/a/Daily-News/e46c7049-c9cd-4669.html In my blog i use akismet that blocks 99.99% of spam and the rest is blocked by my system configuration that causes the first post of anyone to be approved by me.
Nothing is fool proof but it stops the auto-posting robots that troll blogs with spam. The best thing you know is that you will have at least been visited by a real person who had to re-capcha to post. I recommend it for sure if your blog has do-follow tags as these are magnets for blog posting bots.
I just moderate all comments. It takes longer but it eliminates any spam from reaching my readers. I do mind giving back links but they could at least offer something of value in a comment. Moderation is the only way I found to stop them.
Use akismet it can reduce the problem but there is no 100% solution to this..have to do manually..those spammers are getting smart day by day..
