You need to frame the discussion correctly; first Are you buying links (ie links buried at the bottom of a page? on non-related pages? etc?) or Are you buying advertisements. (ie links near the top of pages, on related sites, with good content?) There is a ----huge---- difference between the two.
I buy links from high rated relevant sites usually they appear in the side nav. They actually refer some click through traffic too.
As do I. They bring traffic and may help rankings too. Its advertising though; I'm not buying a link from some unrelated site to mine, though. As I said, there are differences.
they are two different ballgames but still comparable. And please dont use any of that it's an 'ad network'. Whatever it's original primary function was is regardless because now it is mainly being used by people as a way of gaining backlinks for SE's.
From other members of the ad network who use it for SERPs not click throughs. You can find many posts right here in this forum
Does it make any sense to you that if I gave you a link from a high PR page that that would also help your rank maybe What is the difference between that and the co-op except that it is automated with software
I'm not really sure what you are getting at? I think you are arguing my point to me. The only reason I think it would be riskier is because you have to post links on your site too.
What I am getting at is that links may or may not get you better SERP position with certain engines, it does not matter if they come by me sending one your way or by the co-op program sending you links.
Absolutely, and if you don't know what to look for you can get iced quickly. A lot of new seos go head over heels into something that works today and can backfire tomorrow .... but then again let'em...less competition in the future hehe read also what Atlanta Realtor is quoting Shawn saying here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1432&page=7&pp=10 It is exaclty what I am talking about and if you don't get it then I hope there is a safety net to catch your fall
Where is the best place to buy text links?.. from a broker?, or just by visiting a site you'd like to have a link on and asking to buy one?
Contact other webmasters who have a market that is similar to the crowd you are after and work with them.
I'd definately ask around and the forums when buying from a company, I've heard some pretty sad stories about people who've been ripped off.
Is this true even if it's not a new site in this case (I may be confusing it with sandbox effect) I have heard what you are saying before and this leads to my question ... "how is the coop so successful in google before an update takes place ?" remember the coops links are also frequently changing so this can confuse search engines even more.
Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't counted. Your SERPs change every day indicating Google is taking new links into account despite the fact that the visual report is only updated once in a while.
>>Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't counted. Yes that's very true, and you can generally see most links that have been added at Yahoo or MSN within a few days.
I agree. Google has publically acknowledged that the PR we see isn't really what they use and I'm sure the same goes for backlinks.
