Well, I guess because of all the replies, this is more of a guidance thread about blog commenting and ect. If you have any questions about blog commenting or guest posting feel free to post it here. I hope you enjoy. Thanks everyone for replying to my question beforehand.
It depends if you are giving comments because the comment is useful and including your URL, or if you're just spamming to get the backlink. One is effective, the other will do you no favours in the long run.
Right - it can be a great way to develop a relationship with other bloggers on similar topics - however, steer clear of robo-blog commenting software packages, which will get your site banned quickly.
blog commenting rarely works and have such low value you would have to have thousands to make any difference. most are No follow and full of spam and crap that google ignore most of them as links. there are some gems you just need to find them!.
Recently i found few competitors link on some blog which is not related to the service and business we are doing and also it is not non-english site and still having link there. BAD news he is still top on some keyword
Thank You for the replies everyone. I was planning on commenting in order to help provide information and just include the url. From what I've seen it is useful, so thank you and I'll get started. Thanks, Cameron
They can work if you: - Give good comments (adding to the conversation and no just spamming) - Choose good blogs to comment, blogs with good traffic and in which visitors have discussions, which can give you traffic just by itself (you don't need to wait for the search engines) - Choosing blogs related to the topic of your site If you follow this, maybe you won't find that many blogs but they will worth more than just posting in all the blogs you find.
Instead of thinking about search engines and backlinks... I'd put blog commenting more into the people optimization category. As mentioned above, if you give good comments and discussion on topics relevant or related to your audience, they might view your site as the author.. especially considering they might be at the end of an article and ready to read or browser something else. They might then value your site enough to become a returning visitor, a customer, or endorse your site elsewhere thus indirectly generating backlinks.
I personally don't think that blog commenting is effective like how it use to be. I do think it's a great way to diversify you backlinks.
You think it is not as effective as it used too we yet it is still great for diversifying your backlinks which is the goal of my question? Please build on this more.
A final thanks for all the replies. Since this question has been answered, I would like to ask you all to please stop replying to this thread. Thank You!
hi cameron, blog comments work to some extent. it won't make you achive top place in serp but it helps you to diversify ur links. also u can use this as your 2nd tier backlinks (think of web 2.0 or article directories as your 1st tier)
Blog comments is one of the best ways to go with it if you comment on your niche and quality blog. One should use following steps to get the benefit from blog comments. 1. Read the entire content of the blog and then make a very helpful comment. 2. Don't use keyword in the "Name". 3. Make only effective comment, rather than making long and useless comment. Hope this helps!
They work very well if you know how to use them properly. If you do random 20k+ blasts then no they are unlikely to help you.
