I would agree with dairyman....to not remain too much focused on getting a PR. While PR ranking is good for bringing little credibility to your site, you should perhaps concentrate more on serps, to be able to efficiently monetize your site from the traffic it generates. As to your question, backlinks from higher ranked site will surely help you in PR! Regards, RightMan
PageRank is of no use, to be honest. I have a personal blog (www.TheKingMaker.in - nothing is sold there, not even a single AdSense unit. So, it's no spam) that "enjoys" (LOL) a Page Rank of 1. And, what's the traffic to the site? On average 1 visit every 2 days. That's proof that PageRank is of no use. What matters is the quantity of qualitative backlinks. To get started, you should try to focus on two-way backlinking (where you give a link to someone who gives you a link on their site/blog)... But, make it a NoFollow (debatable topic still) 'coz Google doesn't like the idea of paid text links and if you're pointing to other sites through a text link, Google has a problem, especially if you keep it on DoFollow. This is, however, not explicitly confirmed by Google as yet. Over time, once your site becomes an authority site, try to get one-way backlinks with some favour in return to the site where you're getting a link from. IMHO, forget PageRank... I know a decent deal of SEO and stuff, and I'm talking out of my learning here. All The Best with your new site
I do think we need to pay attention on PR as well. Once your PR is high, more pages will get indexed by google and that will lure more traffics to your site.
I got a lot of backlink but after google slap there is no more PR for my site. But, I'm not to concern on PR as long as my traffic more than 500 UV/day. They still a lot of way to generate money from our site even our site with zero PR.
yes backlinks increases page rank. i think going for quality content and also quality backlinks related to the theme of one's blog/website is the way to go for higher search engine results and more traffic...
It's the quality and quantity of backlinks. It's hard to say I don't think anyone really knows how google weighs down links. As a general rule a link is a link though if it is low quality it might get discounted a lot.
More quality content and more quality backlinks from related sites will improve your site's ranking in SERPs. Be consistent to do these and your site will rank well.
