    Hai,

I am new to the World of internet. I have just created a blog and i submitted the url to google search engine.

My doubt is that, I have chosen a more competitive keyword and my aim is to bring the site to google page rank 1.

    What should i do?

Increasing the no. of backlinks bring my site to PR 1.

    Your comments are greatly appreciated.

    Thank u.

No of quality backlinks will contribute towards increase in PR. But quality content of the site is more important. Try to get quality(thematic) backlinks to your site.

The Backlinks, the design of your website, and constant content update is the ONLY thing that PR is calculated.

I think you may be confused about what page rank 1 is. It doesn't mean your site is listed on page one of google.

The more high PR do-follow back links you have to your blog, the higher your page rank may be, if you have 100 P10 nofollow backlinks, then it won't make any differnce. If your aiming for pagerank from backlinks, the only way to get this is from dofollow links, nofollow is a backink, but google doesn't add to pagerank for nofollow.

Quality of backlinks is far more important than quantity. Try to get links from sites with a higher PR than your's. The higher the PR, the better. (PageRank is not your ranking in the SERP's, it's the "grade" that Google gives your site based on a number of factors. Inbound links are one of those factors.)

Basically, backlinks is one of the way to increase your PR. If the backlinks that point to your site have some PR value, it'll definitely benefit your site in terms of PR, provided that it's not a purchased link.

I actually took two months off of updating my Blog and my pagerank still went up. I definitely think it is the structure of your website plus some quality backlinks.

PR is just one of the 200 factors that Google considers while ranking a website in SERPs. You should concentrate on adding useful and informative content in your site and build relevant and quality backlinks, both these things will help to increase your site's ranking in SERPs plus it will help your PR to increase too.

This is a pretty broad question. By far links are the most important factor in your SERP ranking. And yes it is basically a function of quality of links and quantity. Don't focus only on backlinks it is important but not the only factor.

Using backlinks to increase pagerank is one of the most misunderstood things in SEO. I would not even focus on pagerank but rather focus on ranking in the search engine results. With quality backlinks you can rank for competetive keywords even with a low PR.

While the influence of BL in adding up to your PR is debated, you concentrate more on building up quality contents and get niche related quality BL to increase traffic. SEO too helps your site to be in good books of SE. BTW, Don't bother too much about the little green bar, called PR :D
