Does back link still important?

I am starting to wonder if google still putting a big importanct to back link. I ask this because of this search result.

the site that ranks number 1 for the keyword isulong seoph don't even have single back link compare to the other site competing with the same keyword.

 

Yeah and does not have page rank unlike the others..

2. Pagerank score (PR) doesnt matter for search engine ranking position

You also have to consider that yahoo displays backlinks even that have the rel='nofollow' tag and this website seems to be blog spamming and many of his links contain the tag.

Backlinks are always good, they bring traffic to your site, increase your PR and help with the SERPS yes they do help.
