Does Associates Pay Well?

Has anyone here made some GOOD money from associates? Would people actually buy stuff on your site with Amazon? It makes me wonder why they wouldn't just go to Amazon in the first place...seems iffy...but what do you guys have to say about it?

if you can get visitors to your sites then you will have a few sales
what makes them buy from you? well there are on your site not on amazon's
if they knew they want to buy something from amazon sure they will go to amazon

There payout is low compared to other affiliate programs. I have used them a little bit but didn't have much success.

what's nice about amazozn as opposed to other affiliates is the absurd amount of products they have on their site. They basically sell everything besides cars, homes and majors appliances.

They have product reviews and plenty of info for everything, which makes it a little easier on the webmaster. Their rates may be a little lower than others but the variety makes up for it, especially if you have a few different niches on your site. It's nice because you would only have to climb one tier to get the higher rates as opposd to multiple.

I use a few other affiliates in conjunction with amazon.

i haven't had much luck with them at all. well under 1% of clicks convert. I actually wonder if my cookies are getting washed out by other amazon affiliates- there are so many out there these days.

Rather than going through the muddle of looking things up in Amazon itself, the idea here is to present to the visitor a recommended preselected item, a good way to catch the impulse buyer, or for those who knows what they are looking for.

Let the buyer know that they will be buying from Amazon.com through your website, never hide this fact, do not ever misrepresent yourself.

It is the confidence that these buyers have in Amazon.com that will make them buy through your representative website.

you can earn a few G's a week if you really focus all of your ads correctly. use ebay's affiliates for high paying items and amazon for sheer bulk turnover.

As others have said the payout is very low compared to other programs BUT what I've found is that since they do sell a wide variety of products and cross promote extremely well, many of my visitors will buy products I recommend and then go on to buy other products too.

It's not my top affiliate program by far but any little bit helps. My quarterly checks are usually about $75. Not a lot but that will pay a couple of bills. :)

Maybe it's just sheer luck or maybe not. I think it's not just visitors or traffic that will make the sale. From what I see it's the strategy to follow market trends.

P.S I've written a review on a report about Amazon marketing trends strategy on my blog.

it doesn't really have anything to do with luck. It's about building a site around targeted products and then bringing in targeted visitors... i.e. those who are shopping for the products you are selling.

no. it was, but they switched over to monthly... which is the main reason that I actually push their product now. Quarterly simply didn't work for me.
