I've been idling away on the forum today and I found this category. I've never looked in it before and it's quite a revelation. An awful lot of people want writers and an awful lot of people want to write but I haven't found any UK writing jobs that pay in GBP. Do they exist or am I looking in the wrong place?
Hi Trisha I've hardly seen any that pay in GBP. Or any specifically looking for UK writers. You might have to look on another site altogether. It doesn't matter to me though, but everyone's different, and I respect that. Good luck. take care now... .
Talk of the devil, I've just found this, Trisha! : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=623348 .
Just because they pay in $USD doesn't mean they want you , it's just the worlds most recognized currency. Although exchange is bad for us, it does make us htink were more superior as the higher figures
I know this post is kinda old but if you're still looking, take a look at freelancers.net You'll find some projects specifically for UK based freelancers.
But what do you mean by "UK writing jobs", and why do they have to pay in pounds? I am based in the north of England, but the gigs I do are for people in Canada, the US, and, to a lesser extent, the UK. This is the internet - you don't have to restrict yourself to the UK market. Admittedly, it does help if you can use American English, but this is quite easy to grasp - just do some research. Actually one of my American employers is quite happy for me to write in British English. As for payment, if you have a PayPal acct you can convert the currencies in which you get paid into pounds. One Canadian employer even sent me a cheque for pounds drawn on a UK bank.
You're probably best to venture for some general writing jobs - some can be found at getafreelancer.com. You shouldn't be discouraged about non-UK writing jobs as this is after all the internet and a global marketplace.
