I have a web site that has specialised content and is of appeal to a small part of the populace. The front page is PR5 and its taken allot of hard work getting it there.

I have had my first email for someone who wants to place text ads on my site.

    It reads as follows:-

Now if I were to go down this route there are two things that I need to consider.

1 is I am fussy about what goes on the site because it must always be "family" rated

But Secondly and more importantly I havn't got a clue what to charge. And the purpose of this post is to put out feelers as to what I should do.

For anyone who wants to see what my site is all about and why it should remain family orianted it will become imidiately obvious forgive me if I am not allowed to post urls moderators please delete the url if this is the case. Which is why I have surrounded it in "code"

    Code (markup):
The Alexa details don't tell you to much since it is still low ranking.
    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&compare_sites=&y=t&q=&size=medium&range=&url=www.noteperfect.net
    Code (markup):
I have looked at the web site for the guy who sent the email and I think he is reputable.

On the other hand he may be looking for free links in return for free links on his sites. However, I do believe requests such as the one quoted should have a price. Currently my Google Ads are paying a small sum, any text ads I feel would have to be at their expense so some compensation I feel is justifiable.

Just tell them that you only allow family friendly links on your website.

About what a link is worth, it is worth as much as the advertiser is willing to pay.
I would ask for 20$ for hp listing and 40$ sitewide per link and see how they react.
If they don´t accept then go as low as you are willing to go, but start high.

    Best regards
