If you are serious about a website, put it on a paid ( and reputable host ) and use free hosts as SEO/ satellite places to bring traffic to your main blog. Sometimes free hosts die off and then you may be stuck with nothing.

Well said! I recently just had this happen to ALL my websites on a hosting. It was free, but they just upped and left and left everyone hanging! It was a very popular hosting from this site, so many will know which one I am talking about. GRRRRRR The saying holds true "You get what ya pay for"

Another spammer! What kind of quality services are you talking about! Any free hosting will give more features than that.

I just told my suggestion about the site freeindianhosting.com. It is not a spam. For me, it provides greater benefits. Selection of hosting sites depends upon your requirements.

I started with free hosting, just to get myself familiar with the hosting panels that are out there. Once I got serious with my online venture, I went for paid hosting. Too many painful memories of free/cheap web hosting experiences to recall. I settled for a pretty affordable hosting provider for WordPress and paid for it for a while, until I got an offer from them to host my site for free in exchange for a good review. Being a satisfied customer, who was I to refuse? :)

I still would go for a decent paid hosting provider if given a choice.

This depends on your website .. you can host your small websites for instance website for describing your products in free hosting. And for resource sites and forums you can opt for premium hosting... wat ever may be hosting type... the hosting provider should be reliable..

Free web hosting is good to test your web sites before they go to production. That is why I use them for.

I had experimented with FreeHostia sometime ago. They allow MySQL/PHP on the free hosting plan without any ad banners and hence you can host your WordPress blog for free there.

Hey that is what I call discussion :) ok as the member of free web hosting service I can tell you few things about free web hosting. I have read all of your opinions and I am amazed :)
Firstly free web hosting itself can be differentiated into three parts:
    1. Free web hosting with ADS
    2. Free web hosting without ADS
    3. Free web hosting with reuired forum posting.

Which one you would choose? I guess Free web hosting with ADS. Yes it has no guarantees and it (as some say) is not reliable, but when again it is free...Look at another side of this topic....If the service is free so how it will earn money? I guess the stuff hides under premium web hosting which is offered in the same free web hosting, so basically free web hosting is for leads to premium web hosting...Now talking about guarantees I would say if users comes to the service, register to it and starts to use...after some time he is facing downtimes and other crap...You think it is right? I do not think so, that is why reliable (but with no guarantees) free web hosting tries to make the best uptime, the reliable service that they would interest people to come to use premium web hosting. I hope this explains a lot what regards the quality of the service itself.

Talking about web hostng with ads they I guess (that is just my personal opinion) do not really care about service and reliability the main earnings they have are from ads, also there are more service which forced ads and offers premium web hosting.

The last free web hosting model (which I am really do not understand) which requires you to post (SPAM) forums about them...
