I have thought about buying some banner ads on very relative sites and was wondering if banners have been efective for anyone on here? Let me know.
If I find a banner space that isn't too costly, but targets the audience I target then I may buy it. I buy more text links than banner links.
Many surfers are blind to banner ads. They can be useful if you find the right place to put them, but for me in general they are not very effective. The best way to find out is to just try for yourself.

Make sure you put it on the right website and most importantly it has to be a real eye catcher or it's just a waste of money.
It depends on the popularity of the site you put your banner ad on, the design of the banner, etc. If your banner is no good and not eye catching enough then you are likely to get poor results no matter what site you put it on. Good luck anyway.
start cheap, but yes this is profitable and i make sales with banner ads - just get the right audience!
Banners can be effective, I have had a lot of success myself. It does largely depend on the banner itself and target audience. I have done a lot of split testing with banners and its amazing how some completely outperform others tenfold. My advice when using banner advertising is TEST your banners and see what works best!
I think banners are loosing their popularity now but still I feel if placed properly you can get good results. Moreover some good media banners that provide slides to transfer proper information about the product get good clicks than the simple static banners.
