I've heard some mixed things about this service. The article screeners seem to be very strict with the criteria, but some people complain that they still get rejected from a lot of directories when they submit to the service. Anyone have any tips?
Hey Lincoln, It might sound like a lot of work at first, but once you get accounts set up and get accepted as a member, it takes very little time to submit your articles to the major directories. This will save you a lot of money and will also help you avoid getting penalized by the engines for having articles in tons of crappy article publishing sites. Here are the top 10 (IMO anyway). 1. Ezine Articles 2. Buzzle 3. Article City 4. Idea Marketers 5. GoArticles 6. Article Dashboard 7. Article Alley 8. Article Gold 9. Amazines 10. Article Base The reason I recommend only posting to 10 and not more is that you don't want your link % to get too heavily weighted toward article publishing sites, that will get you penalized.
Doh! Sorry about that, Lincoln, I should have read your question more carefully. I can't help you with ArticleMarketing, I haven't personally had any experience with them but I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question.
yeah ive used article marketer.. there submission standards are a real pain.. they have horrible categories and then they tell you that your article is submitted in the wrong category.. it's good but it's annoying.. my honest review
yeah their submission process is a pain, if there isnt one thing wrong, there's another. Hopefully the fact that it submits to 6k directories makes up for it
I use article marketer. It has its flaws, but over all its a great tool. The main thing is that is save you a lot of time. It will get your articles submitted to over 1000 article directories in a couple of days.
Hey Tmon, I wish I could submit different versions of the same article to each. That's what I try to do because then you won't get lost in the duplicate content filters. Unfortunately there are only so many hours in a day, and I often wind up posting duplicates. It's kind of a toss up, you have to decide what's more important to you... do you want to spend a bunch of time "tweaking" the same article so that you can post uniques at the article submission sites or would you rather just submit very similar articles and hope they slip by the duplicate filters. I tend to choose the latter so that I can free up more time to create quality content for my own sites. Glad you liked the list though. Best of luck to you!
I have a "lifetime" membership with Article Marketer. I don't use it much nowadays. Having the same articles on 100s of directories doesn't help much. Most of the sites on their list aren't that good and I rarely get any traffic from those sites. I think submitting to top 10-20 article directories is equivalent to submitting via article marketer.
I could never get two things about article marketing:- 1) Why submit duplicate content and get penalized for it? 2) Does getting unique backlinks from different article sites still outweigh penalties for duplicate content? Please enlighten!!!
I use the articlcle announcer which is really good and also the article submission in seo elite. Not used AM though..
Hey Zagger, Your penalty question is a good one and you're right, it's confusing, especially when I explain it badly. When I talk about being "penalized" for duplicate content I'm probably using the wrong word. Google, for example, will look at articles on your web site and at article marketing sites and then choose the one that it believes is the best source for the information. That means that the most trusted google source is going to get listed in search results and the rest will be ignored. The only penalty is that you wasted a lot of time and effort if you posted the same article at all of these sites because Google and other search engines aren't going to rank multiple versions of the same content, they'll only list one in their search results. Time spent rewriting several versions of your articles or breaking them up is time well spent... on the other hand, you can only get so much link juice from an article site anyway and many of your visitors will be direct traffic or publication of your article on another site. That's why I said I often choose to just "tweak" articles, hope they make it past the duplicate filter, and then spend more time on creating quality content for my own sites. Does that make more sense? Hopefully I explained it a little better that time.
Thanks BankerGuy. I understand that duplicate content penalty only works as a direct penalty if you have duplicate content on your site. if you have same content on different (article) sites, all thats important to search engines is the source as you said. But, you would still get those backlinks and some direct traffic.
