I reply to all serious link exchanges sent with our forms for the purpose of exchanging links. All these spammy exchanges sent from different services and those that obviously are spam (sent too ) goes directly into the trashcan. Sometimes I check the links in the other emails, but it's mostly just directories filled with spammy sites, and / or very many links to low quality sites. We prefer to exchange links with serious sites of pr 4 or higher, so sites without content goes directly in the bin.
No, and even thoe ones that come in from my website form are double checked. Only this moring one from a site of mine was pure crap, for a hotel booking service site, but they had farmed the service out to a company called something like exclusivesite.com who then set your site up as a sub-domain of that site ie hotelbooking.exclusivesite.com and more funny when you do a site search for then only 1 page comes up......you have to be so careful. Ian
I still do my link exchange's by hand, I admit that I send out a lot more requests than I get in. I do check the sites though when I get a link request, long as it's a good page with no blackhat then I will swap links, PR/there BL's are not overly important to me as I know one day they could rank high (hopefully)
I've been looking at marketing my B&B listing site to other B&B's, web site designers etc. I've tried to send interesting and well written emails to people for link exchanges, partnerships or signups. I haven't got one response. I'll admit I haven't sent out a lot of emails but I have sent a few. How do you convince people you're honest and genuine in this world of spam. I'm not interested in submitting my site to a lot of directories. I'm looking for quality links from sites that acually work in the same areas I'm trying to service. Here's an example of a message I sent out just the other day: ---- We recently launched the Bed and Breakfast connector. It is a website dedicated to finding the finest bed and breakfast accommodation. I've noticed you have some really amazing bed and breakfast sites in your portfolio and would like to offer you a chance to promote them. We offer a partner program which gives B&B groups or website designers the ability to submit many sites for a substantial discount over our normal rates. For a site such as yours this rate would be about $X Cdn. All we ask in return is a link to our site on the B&B's web page. The Bed and Breakfast Connector http://www.bbconnector.com/ has many benefits: - Unlimited descriptions - 5 free pictures - Contact Us/Reservaton Forms - Page counters - Categories We are also crawled regularly by google and MSN. Our website traffic increased by 150% last month. Best of all you do not need to buy all the listing at once. You can buy a few at a time and buy more as you choose to add new B&B's. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions I am always interested in discussing them. Shawn The Bed and Breakfast Connector http://www.bbconnector.com/ ---- The cost per B&B was less than $10 I don't really want to resort to phone calls. Thanks
I always find a phone call most effective. Just do a lookup on there domain and give them a call. I have scored some high pr links for free by calling.
Great Advice! My 2 cents, this also prevents companies from fining you for spam(link requests) emails. tom
Sounds like a double galzing sales speach......You have to think from a a clients view. Would you ever buy something from someone who sends you an email who you have never heard of before.... Ian
I do give them a look but these days it is generallt spammy sites whoose mails i get or if not spammy my link is put on a page with tons of links or the pages which are not even indexed..... If it continues may b very soon i ll stop reading them....
I always look at them but only reply if i'm interested. It irritates me if they haven't put your link on their site firstly but then ask you to do it first. I must admit i do send out these emails sometimes but i always research the website and check its relevency etc beforehand and always make sure that their is no way to "Link to us" through the website.
anyone checked out linkmetro? I registered my sites but havent responded to 1 reply yet. Basically someone links to you then can submit for you to link to them. I registered every site I have there but have not reciprocated. I am getting about 20-40 backlinks a day total.... I never link back.
Pretty unethical way of doing things. I wouldn't do that myself. I mentioned elsewhere that i recently did a check on who was still linking to me with links set up through linkmarket and i found that about 30% had dropped the link.
i'm hoping to get this problem shortly...my site is farely new... about 5 months old so I am not getting many requests from people for links. I'm the one spending hours looknig for links. Hopefully i get a PR soon so people find me
I'm not sure about all you guys who say you don't answer any link request emails at all. I mean, at one point in history, your site was a 0/10 and you had to get links on other sites in order to build your pr. If everyone decided not to answer or exchange links via email, then no one would be able to get their pr up(except maybe directories). I personally will exchange links from geniuine emails that have already added my site's link to their website and their site is related in content. When I do email link exchanges, I don't bother emailing coporate sites, university sites, because I know the chances of them responding is slim. tesla
Hi Tesla I think you'll find the people here have got link directories which allow the visitor to add their site automatically (pending approval) so no email is required. It's totally obvious when someone hasn't been to the site. on the other hand I've had emails saying "I submitted X days ago and would really appreciate the link" and I'll check and what they say is right and I appreciate the follow up. You can tell that's real Sarah
Some exchange request can be so rude. I have received a recip request where the guy ask me to put a link to his site first before he put one to mine...in his email he said that it's beneficial for me because he is high in SERP bla..bla ..bla..( the thing is, he's the one who's asking for a recip link request - not me!) I don't know how many ppl do write email like this but i think ppl who do something like this has no manners. The proper way is to put a link to a person's site first, then email them saying that you've put a linkto theirs and ask them if they could put a recip link back...or sth like that I emailed that Idiot twice and never got a reply. ! So much for recip links..can't be bothered anymore
some time ago I have read the thread about linking requests. And there was post about writing email in this way. Maybe somebody is using this strategy to get links. Maybe he/she is a member of digitalpoint forum. Who knows?
For me, I usually add them, for about a week (waiting to see if they actually add my link), if it's not there by then, I drop it and contact them. I accept requests to me - but as for people responding to my request - it wasn't so much...
